Becoming A Judge
Judges List definition & Qualification 2009
The list will be reviewed and amended annually at the last meeting of the year and all nominations should be with the secretary by 1st November. Any late nominations will be held over until the next review.
The list will comprise of 3 sub lists; A3, B & C, defined as follows.
A3 LIST
Lists those persons who have achieved those qualifications set out hereunder, and accepted as suitable by the committee for recommendation to the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the Breed.
B LIST
List those persons who have met the minimum qualifications as set hereunder and accepted by the committee to judge Dogue de Bordeaux at Open Show level and at Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates.
C LIST
Lists aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed, and have the support of the committee to judge Dogue de Bordeaux at Open and Limit Show level.
COMPILATION OF THE LIST
1. The published conditions/criteria for inclusion will be strictly adhered to; however where a case is borderline, an applicant’s future appointments may be taken into consideration. The decision as to whether these are adequate to balance any deficiencies will be determined by a committee vote with a two thirds majority of those present and voting being in favour.
2. Members and individuals may nominate names for inclusion on the list at any time. The application should be in writing, using the appropriate form obtainable from the secretary, and returned to the secretary. The relevant qualifications should be stated on the form. The onus for providing additional evidence for advancement on the list shall be the responsibility of the applicant.
3. Number of dogs judged. Absentees will be taken into account when calculating the number of classes actually judged and must be recorded by the applicant. Failure to do so will result in the application being returned.
4. The committee shall have the right to include on the list who, in their opinion, have exceptional qualifications, i.e. a foreign breed specialist; a non specialist with greater than average knowledge of the breed. In all these instances the nominee must gain a two-thirds majority vote of those present and voting, and with their agreement.
5. The committee shall reserve the right to remove, or relegate, a name from the list.
NB:THE DECISION OF THE COMMITTEE IS FINAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR NOMINATION TO EACH LIST
A3 LIST
Those applying for inclusion on the A3 list must have: Breed Specialists
1. Minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the club. (KC)
2. Judged Dogue de Bordeaux at a minimum of 7 separate shows. (Club)
3. Judged a minimum of 30 Classes of Dogue de Bordeaux. (Club)
4. Judged a minimum of 100 Dogue de Bordeaux. (KC policy number set by Club)
5. To have been exhibiting and breeding Dogue de Bordeaux for a minimum of 10 years. ( Club)
6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and judging procedures. (KC)
7. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club accredited trainer on Conformation and movement. (KC)
8. To have attended a Conformation and Movement “ Hands on assessment” conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.(KC)
9. To have attended at least one breed specific and judging seminar run by The Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of best practice and passed The Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain’s advanced judging assessment and examination. (KC)
10. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book ( Save in exceptional circumstances). (KC)
11. To have stewarded at least 12 shows.
(KC) Non Specialist
1. Minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed ( to include 5 years judging Dogue de Bordeaux) and to have the support of the Breed Club. (KC)
2. Judged Dogue de Bordeaux at a minimum of 10 separate shows. (Club)
3. Judged a minimum of 30 classes of Dogue de Bordeaux. (Club)
4. Judged a minimum of 100 Dogue de Bordeaux. (KC Set by Club)
5. Awards CCs in at least one other breed.(KC)
6. To have attended at least one breed specific and judging seminar run by The Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of best practice and passed the Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain’s advanced judging assessment and examination. (Club)
7. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in The Kennel Club Stud book (save in exceptional circumstances).
(Club) B List Persons
The Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain supports to judge Dogue de Bordeaux at Open Show level and Championship Shows without CCs.
Persons applying for inclusion on the B list must have: Breed Specialists
1. At least 5 years experience exhibiting and breeding Dogue de Bordeaux and have the support of the breed club. (CLUB)
2. To have attended at least one Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain breed and advanced judging seminar and passed the clubs assessment and examination. (Club)
3. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures. (Club)
4. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement. (Club)
5. To have attended a Conformation and Movement “ hands on assessment” conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.
(Club) Non Specialists
1. Judged Dogue de Bordeaux at a minimum of 4 shows. (Club)
2. Judged a minimum of 20 Dogue de Bordeaux. (Club)
3. To have attended at least one Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain breed and advanced judging seminar and passed the clubs assessment and examination. (Club)
4. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures. (Club)
5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement. (Club)
6. To have attended a Conformation and Movement “ hands on assessment” conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment. UK resident judges who are eligible to award CACIB in Europe are able to be placed on this list.
C LIST Persons
The Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain supports to Judge Dogue de Bordeaux at Open and Limit Shows.
Persons applying for inclusion on the C list must have:
- Breed Specialists Must have been exhibiting and breeding Dogue de Bordeaux for a minimum of 5 years.
- To have attended at least one breed seminar held by the Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain.
Non Specialists
- To have at least 5 years experience of judging another breed(s), to include the judging of Dogue de Bordeaux.
- To have attended at least one breed seminar held by the Dogue de Bordeaux Club of Great Britain.
NB: IF ALL OF THE ABOVE CRITERIA ARE MET, THIS DOES NOT MEAN AUTOMATIC INCLUSION IN THE JUDGING LIST.
