DDBCGB Limit Show 2010 – Judge’s Report
Judging any breed club show is a great honour. On this occasion it was a privilege for me to be able to go over so many fine dogues. I was looking for dogues that could combine a broad, well let-down chest with a straight front. I was also looking for firm toplines, strong hind quarters and free movement. Of course heads are important too and for me that involves seeking a typical Bordeaux expression. Last but not least there are Kennel Club health considerations. Sometimes it seems that our breed gets more than its fair share of scrutiny from the KC but it is important that we take their health guidelines seriously.
Minor Puppy Dog (7, 1a)
1st Dunning’s Doobyaves Lorenzo for Rozeldogue. Handsome puppy with everything you could want at this age. Head of correct proportions. Excellent front with forechest. Good spring of ribs, excellent topline and broad loin already. Very good angulation and moving purposefully. Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Quigley’s Althateano Movie Star. Nice head with correct planes and good stop already. Well boned straight front legs. Broad strong hindquarters. Moving freely. Body not quite as advanced as 1st but plenty of time yet.
3rd Rayns & Mott’s Brandoux Tenebreux avec Bourgeoisie.

3rd Quigley’s Valleyrein The Warrior.

3rd Wall’s Redripraw Bardolph at Gingerninga.
Limit Dog (2, 1)
1st Rainger’s Rozeldogue Family Man for Loggerheads. Stood alone here but a worthy class winner. Correct head. Strong body and good shoulder placement. Good bone and feet. Moves very well with particularly good front extension.

1st Hall’s Mdenapoli Muldoon. Big strong dog who is maturing nicely. Masculine head with broad skull, excellent planes and broad under jaw. Broad chest and depth of brisket. 2nd Rainger’s Play My Tune for Loggerheads. Promising young bitch. Nice head. Pleasing front and chest. Good ribs and loin. Initially thought she would win this class but she just could not get into her stride on the move.
3rd White’s Trueoaks New Year.
Post Graduate Bitch (15, 5)
1st Kemp & Graham’s Jerivindi Temptress with Guardmoore. Well constructed and balanced bitch. Nice expression. Won this class on her outstanding movement. Excelled from the side view reaching out in front, driving from behind and holding her topline.
2nd Quigley’s Althateano No Need To Cheat. Another lovely bitch. Excellent front and great substance. Well sprung ribs and strong topline. Also moved well. Just preferred the expression of my winner.

3rd Dunning’s Rozeldogue Flirtatious.
Open Bitch (8, 2)
This was an outstanding class of top quality bitches who, to use a cliché, could well change places in the future.
1st Quigley’s Lockerice Elvive. Beautiful bitch coming to her prime at three and a half years. Giving an impression of great strength while remaining feminine. Lovely typical expression. Excellent front with good bone. Well let down brisket, well ribbed back with strong loin and hindquarters. Moved freely. Best Bitch and Best in Show.
2nd Smart-McMullan’s Rozeldogue Private Dancer at Doobyave. Another excellent bitch with quality throughout. Pleasing head. Nice straight front. Strong hindquarters. Moved freely. Close up, but on the day did not quite have the presence of 1st. Reserve Best Bitch.
3rd Hamblett’s Redripraw Mistress Quickly
Veteran Bitch (1)
1st Turner’s Look Lively Lass. In fabulous condition at 10 years of age. Sweet expression and still moving well on her sound legs and tight feet.
Finally, although she was not placed highly today at the age of six and half years, it was great for me to meet Rhodonite Rhonda of Jerivindi. Bred by Mark Turnbull and owned by Bev Graham, she is the mother of many influential Rhodonite dogues including Rolex, Renais, Governor, Roman and Romeo.
